Cosmetic Teeth Whitening - the Legal Facts You Need to Know

Cosmetic Teeth Whitening can be extremely profitable for those that do it correctly.

If you are thinking about setting up you're own teeth whitening business but have been scared off by the numerous articles on the internet declaring that it is illegal and cannot be done unless you are a dentist/dental nurse, then this post is for you. I am going to explain the teeth whitening legal facts of teeth whitening and hopefully put your mind at ease.

In recent years, the laws regarding cosmetic teeth whitening have changed. From 2001 to 2012, the teeth whitening law in the UK remained pretty stagnant. Tooth whitening products were confirmed to be cosmetic on June 28th, 2001. According to this ruling, it is now legal for both dentists and non-dentists to carry out teeth whitening treatments without breaking the law.

There are a couple of rules to follow in order to ensure you are not breaking the law when you start teeth whitening business. These are all very straight forward and should you decide to go ahead and set up you're own business, these will all be covered in your training. I  have included a brief summary of the rules here so you can see how easy they are to follow!

You must follow the self-administered process i.e. the customer does all the work and you are there to guide them You must not advise the customer on anything dental related or touch the customer's mouth in any way

There is a lot of false information on the internet, but hopefully, I have explained the teeth whitening legal facts a little bit more and put your mind at ease a little bit more?
